Privacy & Security
Is my health information secure with Reliance?
Yes. Reliance is HIPAA-compliant and built on secure, encrypted infrastructure. Protecting patient privacy and security is a top priority.
Who can access my information through the network?
Only authorized providers involved in your care, under access rules set by Oregon's healthcare community, not a vendor.
Is Reliance a government database?
No. Reliance is a community-governed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It is not a government agency and not a vendor product; access policies are set by Oregon's own healthcare community.
How Data Is Shared and Used
What is the information used for?
To support your care. The providers treating you can see a fuller, more current picture of your health, so they can coordinate better and avoid duplicate or conflicting care.
How is data shared?
Reliance moves a patient's clinical record securely between the providers involved in their care, in near-real-time, through the systems they already use, instead of fax, phone, or mail.
How does Reliance not use data?
Access to the network is for treatment and care coordination by authorized providers. Uses are governed by Oregon's healthcare community, not a vendor's terms of service.
For Patients
What does Reliance mean for me as a patient?
Your care team can work from the same, current information. That means safer care, fewer repeated tests, and less time spent re-explaining your history.
Can I choose not to share my information?
Yes. Patients can opt out of having their information shared through the network. Details and the opt-out form will be available in the For Patients section.
How do I request my records?
Reliance supports patient records requests. The process and where to submit a request will be available in the For Patients section.
